What do you think is the key to professional success?
I think flexibility is important. Being able to shift gears quickly or recognize a better way of doing things can be applied to any field.
What effect do you want to have on your industry with your work?
My hope is to lower the resistance of getting started for our clients.
For many, money management can be connected to a thousand hopes, dreams, frustrations, and ‘what-if’ scenarios. This creates an adversarial relationship between current goals and future worries. Energy can be wasted on reasons not to get started – even before taking the first step.
That’s why I enjoy identifying what steps clients can take right now to build momentum.
What is an interesting fact about you?
I once starred in a musical theater production of Monty Python skits. I sang the final number and even had backup ‘bee dancers’. For those who hadn’t already guessed, I’m a huge geek.
Are you a cat or dog person?
I love both, but I am officially a bird person. Mammals don’t hold a candle to avian dinosaurs. I have a sweet Meyers parrot named Misha. He’s a fan of almonds, taking baths, and preen time with his human flock. He knows how to verbally request about six things so far, but he’s always learning something new.
What is your definition of “happiness”?
The pursuit of science and art!
Sandwiched somewhere between understanding the natural world and still experiencing the wonder it inspires is where you’ll find me.
I also like chocolate.
